Our client are looking for a experienced salesperson / trader with a proven track record working in the Fresh Produce Industry….

Our client is an established business who have steadily grown to become a leading name in the fresh produce industry, they have a tremendous amount of knowledge within the business and are considered experts in the fresh produce sector.You will be responsible for developing and maintaining existing client relationships within the Sales & Marketing department, whilst identifying and targeting new business opportunities particularly in the non-retail sector. To be successful in this role you will need to be a high calibre sales professional, ideally with a portfolio of customers in Wholesale Markets, Food Service, Processors, Category Managers (This is ideal, not essential). It is unlikely that you would have less than three years experience within the Fresh Produce industry and used to growing business within healthy and stable relationships. A combination of a proactive trading mentality and a strategic thinker would be essential.

You will have an eye for opportunities and jump on any chances to help grow sales and the business. You will be able to utilise your experience and relationships to help drive the business forward and help grow the top and bottom lines for the business.

The ideal candidate will have fresh produce trading experience. You will have a proven track record of delivering sales and new business in the wholesale, catering and processor markets. You will be a team player and have a good ‘can-do’ attitude

 

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
Sales:
• Managing customer accounts and generating sales. Focus on understanding customer needs and building long term relationships.
• Visiting customers and supporting New Business Development activity
• Learning about customer businesses, negotiating prices, and ensuring the delivery of first class customer service.
• Manage pricing and margins according to internal targets.
• Maintain and develop existing and new customers through ethical sales methods.
• Optimize quality of service, business growth, and customer satisfaction.
• Meet company targets for retention of growth and profitability.
• Building new Customer base
• Being a Team player essential

To be considered for this role, we are looking for someone with the following experience / knowledge

  • Strong negotiation skills, excellent telephone manner, sales skills must be demonstrated throughout your past career.
  • Sales / Trading experience in the Fresh Produce Industry
  • Experience working with Non retail / wholesale customers from the Fresh Produce Trade.
  • Ability to work independently and you would be a ‘self starter’.

Fresh Produce Sales Manager ( UK Supermarkets)

A successful Fresh Produce Grower are looking for Sales professionals to join their UK team. Due to recent growth and success, they are looking to expand their supply and customer base.

As part of this continued expansion and success, they are looking for ambitious and talented sales people to sell fresh produce into UK retailers with the full back up of the company’s comprehensive current supply chain.

Therefore, they have asked FMK Consulting to recruit for them two experienced fresh produce Sales Manager with a strong understanding of the UK retail market and / or European retail market.

For this role as UK Sales Manager, they are looking for someone who has a background in new business development and sales management in the UK…. They are looking for someone to bring in and develop and major UK Retail account.

The Sales Manager will need to have several years’ experience in selling to UK fresh produce customers – It is ideal that you would have existing customers and the ability to develop more. You would be joining a small but dynamic team currently enjoying tremendous growth and as such a busy office where a ‘team player’ is essential.

Your track record of sales (in whatever fresh produce category) would be excellent together with your account management and communication skills.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To bring in new business and develop any business with UK Retailers.
  • To manage the day-to-day running of the customers’ account
  • To manage and analyse all the customer’s commercial data, and drive any change necessary for the overall benefit from the conclusions drawn
  • To recognize the responsibility that the account manager has the greatest chance to influence how the customer perceives the company, and manages that responsibility effectively
  • To be the principle point of commercial contact for the customer and undertake the activities necessary
  • To ensure good communication of information pertinent to the customer, both internally and externally
  • Has the ability to identify marketing opportunities, manage marketing funds and engage with the Insight team where needed
  • To ensure we are continually ensuring that the needs and expectations of the customer are being managed
  • To work closely with the MD on price negotiations, and ensuring margin targets are being met

  • Fresh Produce Industry knowledge
  • Excellent Sales experience in a Fresh Produce company
  • New Business development experience
  • Proven Sales / Account Management experience with at least 1 of the major UK Retailers.
  • Experience in market data analysis & customer account management

  • Ability to manage difficult situations and positively influence outcome
  • Excellent communicator with adept IT

Our client is part of a highly successful and well known Fresh Produce Group. They are continuously growing in success and are keen to speak with Traders from the Fresh Produce Industry.

Overall, they are keen to speak with candidates who have experienced buying and selling Fresh Produce – whatever the category! Experience can vary, but it would be essential that the successful candidate had some exposure to the Fresh Produce Industry.

They supply both UK Retail and Non retail customers, so we are keen to speak with people with experience trading with either!

You must be able to manage the costs so as to maximise the trading margin ultimately to meet your profit targets.

The Role

  • Trading a variety of fresh produce to UK Supermarkets or Non retail outlets such as wholesalers and foodservice companies around the country.
    Sourcing the product with good quality at a good price to ensure repeat business.
    Understanding your customers, and ensuring their requirements are met. Going above and beyond as required!

The Candidate

  • Will have previous experience in fresh produce trading on a national level.
  • You will have a proven track record of delivering sales and new business in the wholesale, catering and processor markets.
  • You will be a team player and have a good ‘can-do’ attitude.
  • Will have a book of contacts, both on the supply and customer side, to continue growing and developing.
