An internationally successful Fresh Produce group are looking to expand their ever successful commercial and marketing team with a experienced Fresh Produce Account Manager!

The successful Account Manager would be responsible for designated accounts, sales and profitability across all product categories, whilst supporting Commercial Director in deliver of company business plan and budgeted targets. To manage and deliver the day to day requirements of account customers and reflect requirements by conducting in-store visits/training as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To support the Commercial Director and Account Managers in day to day activities, plus future strategic planning for designated accounts
  • To maintain dialogue with key customer contacts in a timely and effective manner, using appropriate forms of communication and with clear plans for delivering targets and growth
  • To build and maintain relationships with customers, based on courtesy and responsiveness and a focus on their needs, whilst ensure is an ambassador for the company
  • To track customer programmes and forecasts, providing plans for procurement teams, whilst working partnership ensuring that technical teams are also informed
  • To manage day to day problems as they arise in a constructive, timely and professional manner
  • To support reasonable requests from key customers, and to liaise with Commercial Director where appropriate for approval
  • To work closely with Operations and Depots to meet customer sales and stock management
  • To ensuring in-store customer availability is well stocked and training needs highlighted, whilst managing requirements for customer request to deliver extra sales and reduce waste in-store
  • To observe and maintain high level of networking skills with development of key category plans
  • To communicate with customers by connecting them with other parts of the organisation as appropriate, and works flexibly / effectively with colleagues from wider team to achieve goals
  • To support the Commercial Director in the production and preparation of strategic plans, budgets and tenders
  • To prepare for Profit & Loss reviews, producing key material and maintaining key reports up to date
  • To be responsible for packaging formats in conjunction with customer and in line with Technical needs
  • To have a broad understanding of our customers’ businesses and products and review claims / RTMs
  • To act as cover for the Commercial Director; this will necessitate personal development in order to be able to function at a more senior level as the need arises
  • To take on any other responsibilities or tasks that are within the employee’s skills and abilities

Skills Required

  • Some FMCG experience, working with key multiples, and a proven track record of sales success
  • Category Management experience and a good standard of academic qualification, combined with practical experience, preferably with the food industry; a professional qualification would be ideal
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of strategic planning, analysis, presentation techniques
  • Highly numerate / computer literate, self-motivated and proactive
  • Ability to interface with people at all levels with good communication skills
  • Can create professional presentations
