Agrotech Crop Manager

We’re searching for an Agrotech Crop Manager to work from our client’s Somerset facility, who will be responsible for and oversee the growing process from planting through to picking, plus the management and arrangement of all farm maintenance. The role will be supported by the Lead Agronomist and will report to the Farm Manager.

This is an extensive Hydroponic / Vertical Farming project which places you at the cutting edge of the future of Farming!

The Company

Our client is an agriculture and food technology enterprise that designs, builds and operates strawberry production farms. Its key objective is to grow net zero, pesticide-free, high-quality strawberries 365 days per year for distribution to the mainstream market.

Key Responsibilities


  • Working with the Lead Agronomist to ensure plant crop health is optimised through maintaining the defined growing protocols
  • Conducting plant husbandry
  • Ensuring the growing system is maintained daily and faults are reported swiftly for prompt resolution
  • Maintaining and monitoring all aspects of the operation including fertigation and irrigation, HVAC and lighting system
  • Working with different maintenance partners and ensuring routine maintenance is taking place regularly

Picking and Packing

  • Managing picking schedules to meet customers bookings
  • Responsible for the training of employees in how to operate picking and packing machinery


  • Ensure the hygiene and sterilisation of the growing room is maintained by following outlined processes
  • Documenting processes and preparing training materials for new team members
  • Troubleshooting site issues as they arise (including production/operational flows)
  • Working closely with the Lead Agronomist, Farm Manager and Pack-House Manager
  • Maintaining daily documentation of all operational activities
  • Defining, developing, and validating operational process
  • Arranging facility tours for different stakeholders
  • Preparing presentations and reports for the board to review

The Candidate

  • Must be a strawberry lover
  • Should ideally have work experience in the indoor farming sector
  • Present a can-do attitude
  • Have a willingness to learn and develop new skills
  • Be literate and numerate, ideally with a BSc/MSc in horticulture
  • Be personable and able to work with a range of personalities
  • Have basic computer skills
