A leading Fresh Produce company are looking for a Product Quality Manager to join their team….This is a great chance to join a well known and highly respected player in the Fruit Industry

Key Responsibilities

  • Inbound, outbound & stock inspections in conjunction with 3rd party service provider QC team in line with company guidelines for sampling plans and stock holding policies
  • Confirm correct packaging is being used at all times at third part service providers sites
  • Review of QC reports to determine key production targets and actions for each consignment and ensuring its correct place in the rotation
  • Produce, update and manage label sheets for third party service providers on a weekly basis to ensure they have the latest customer information in order to produce the correct labels
  • Monitor operational practices to ensure both customer specifications are achieved and that yields are maximised.
  • Coaching service providers on product knowledge to ensure defects are managed efficiently and in line with customer specification tolerances.
  • Identify, implement and coordinate appropriate corrective action at service providers sites when deemed necessary and in coordination with the Technical Compliance Manager
  • Allocation of raw material to customer orders ensuring correct rotation and operational instructions are met based on intake and stock quality status
  • Monitoring re-work and pull out in the pack-house to verify alignment with the companies quality expectations
  • Manage yields and customer specifications with direct communications to the business unit commercial & supply chain colleagues
  • Support service provider prior to and during customer visits and audits to ensure they represent our client in a highly professional manner
  • Oversee shelf life programs with service providers where agreed with the commercial managers and Technical department
  • Access and extract quality information pertinent to the category from customer databases and platforms and use this information with colleagues and service providers to drive continuous improvements
  • Use quality information provided by customers and the Technical team to identify suppliers, products and origins that represent high, medium and low risk and translate this intellectual property into targeted inspections through weekly hit lists
  • Participate & contribute to supplier seasonal reviews to ensure a balanced view is made
  • Communicate with source based Technical & Quality colleagues on a regular basis using weekly RAG reports supplied by them to help identify areas of focus in the UK
  • Build and maintain relationships with customer depot quality teams to facilitate depot quality visits at key periods of the season with the aim of updating key changes in quality and avoiding rejections and warnings

The role profile outlines the essential elements of the position of Product Quality Manager. It is intended to identify key elements of the role but is not exhaustive and will be subject to revision as and when required. Where necessary additional duties may be delegated by the line manager.
