A leading foodservice company are looking for a Account Manager to join their Telesales and Customer Service department

Reports to: Telesales and Customer Service Manager

Key Contacts: Prospective customers, Customers, Sales Support,  Suppliers, Inventory, Regional Sales Manager, all internal departments

Job Purpose: Manage a daily call schedule. Taking orders by phone, fax & email. Achieve sales and cash margin targets as a minimum for a defined geographical territory.  Grow profitable accounts within the defined call file.  Achieve territory goals and sales drives. Identify category gaps, set objectives and successfully secure new accounts, sales in new and existing customers to maximise average delivery value.

Accountabilities 

  • Achieve sales and margin targets
  • Identifying down traders and individual products – increasing spends and retaining sales
  • Accurate order input
  • Effective communication to the customer
  • Win & retain profitable new business in line with company standards. Grow retained customer numbers to achieve agreed standards
  • Planned objectives and outputs for each call
  • Work with internal departments and suppliers to sell for more, buy for less and minimise costs
  • Drive agreed company campaigns and support agreed focus to meet customer and company targets
  • Work closely with Telesales to ensure compliance, retention and delivery of company campaigns
  • Win & retain profitable new business in line with company standards. Grow retained customer numbers to achieve agreed standards

Skills and Experience required: 
  • Experience of working within foodservice sector, ideally growing new and existing business.
  • Experience winning, growing and retaining new and existing business.
  • Excellent product knowledge and awareness.
  • Excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, persuasive and good telephone manner.
  • Self-motivation is key to the success of this role.
  • Organised, planned, PC literate able to work to targets, deadlines and under pressure.
  • Able to build external & internal relationships and negotiate with sound commercial awareness
