This is a very exciting opportunity for someone to join a successful Fresh Produce Group in South Africa …  Our client is looking for a Chief Production Officer to join their team in Tzanzeen, Limpopo.

The Chief Production/Operations Officer will be responsible to manage all the group operations to optimize the production, sustainability and profitability of the group. The company is a Southern African group with agricultural operations in the Limpopo, as well as an export company based throughout South Africa. The group specializes in the production of agricultural products including citrus and banana production.

The CPO job requires 8 to 15 years of hands on citrus production and agricultural project management experience.

 

 The Group is looking for a business partner and wants a candidate who can be part of the strategic executive team.

 

The CPO is to provide strong implementation and execution production guidance. This position reports to the MD of the Group and provides oversight and leadership.

The ideal candidate will be able to make sound business decisions as they relate to the balance sheet and the profit & loss statements. The successful candidate must be an intelligent, quick learner, who is mature and proactive, with evidence of having worked as a true business partner to the Senior Management Team.

Skills / Qualifications / Experience

  • Tertiary qualification – Agronomy, B.Sc. Agriculture and/or Agricultural Economics
  • MBA will be advantageous
  • At least 10 years’ experience in senior/executive multidisciplinary management positions.
  • Seasoned managerial and leadership skills.
  • Experience in decision making in a production environment.
  • Proven track record in agriculture in a competitive context.
  • At least 10 years of senior management experience.

Chief production officer: R 1 500 000 – R 2 000 000 pa CTC that includes profit share structure

Senior Packhouse Manager

A leading Citrus Fruit producer and exporter are looking for a experienced Senior Packhouse Manager to join their busy packhouse in Limpopo …In this role you would be responsible for the overall management and leadership functions of the Packhouse for a Limpopo based citrus production and export group.

Key Performance Areas:

  • Form part of strategic management in planning of production, picking, quality managements and market supply
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of strategic Packhouse operational plans.
  • Coordinating and executing the packing program as planned and prioritised by the marketing department.
  • Effectively managing staff and ensuring compliance with company policies at all times.
  • Monitoring and ensuring that packing equipment, work stations and the entire Packhouse is maintained at the required hygiene and operational standards.
  • Monitoring and ensuring that the quality meets each customer’s specification.
  • Managing costs within the Packhouse according to the set budget.
  • Considering and implementing more efficient ways of meeting targets.
  • Liaising and assisting growers and various primary customers.
  • Sound leadership and direction in the pack house ensuring quality product output, accuracy and consistency in pack house processes and documentation.
  • Building and implementing best practice policies and principles.
  • Develop and train a team of pack house staff.
  • Ensuring high standards of health and safety practices.
  • Ensuring compliance to all necessary industry quality assurance standards.
  • Meeting all specifications as required by both local and export
  • Planning and purchasing of materials

  • Cold-room management
  • De-Greening facility management

We are looking for someone with the following experience / knowledge :-

  • Engineering or Industrial Engineering qualification will be beneficial
  • Minimum 5 years’ production management experience within a food, beverages or pharmaceutical manufacturing facility or Packhouse facility.
  • Must have Microsoft office experience, especially with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Must have strong communication skills.
  • Must be completely bilingual.
  • Excellent knowledge of BRC, HACCP, and Global Gap Accreditation.
  • Production management experience is essential.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good numerical and planning skills.
  • Self-disciplined, a team player, honest and of high integrity.
  • Able to work under minimum supervision while meeting the set targets & deadlines.
  • Willing to work overtime and weekends.

 

Salary offered for the successful candidate will be  R 60 000 pm  – R 90 000 pm CTC

Commercial Manager (Fruit)

A highly successful international Fresh produce company based in South Africa are keen to develop their Commercial and Sales team with a ambitious and talented Commercial Manager.

The Commercial Manager will be involved in the company’s Marking programmer and you would be managing export and local teams – Account Managers, etc. The Commercial Manager would have strong involvement in managing the pricing strategy, and communication of pricing with all customers (abroad and local), communication with growers and ensure that the software platform grows with the business and supports an efficient flow of information between packhouses, ports, and the market.  The Commercial Manager will manage existing customers as well as develop new business and develop and excellent customer relationships.

The Commercial Manager will have the following skills and experience:-

  • + Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Manager within the Fruit Export Environment
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel, i.e. able to do Pivot tables, V-lookup, etc.
  • Knowledge of the fresh fruit production/marketing industry
  • Knowledge of the Middle and Far Eastern markets customer base would be advantageous
  • Fruit software platforms such as Palbroker / QX working within an ERP system
