Our client is a successful retailer with a considerable footprint in the UAE. Through internal promotion they now have a fabulous opportunity to join as a Merchandise Manager for their Fruit and Vegetable categories.

Role Purpose:-

The Merchandise Manager F&V is responsible for coordinating with Sourcing teams as well as supporting purchases for our client. The role holder is also responsible for assisting with selection and examining products that get to store shelves, in catalogues, and online.

Sourcing Strategy

  • Implement effective strategies for sourcing goods and maintaining desired stock levels
  • Research and review new products to meet company’s goals
  • Prepare and review purchase details of orders and deliveries
  • Research and suggest new suppliers with long-term cost savings or quality improvement
  • Implement methods to reduce shortages and overstocking through analysis of data and prepare control strategies
  • Follow up of company KPI’s
  • Implement/Follow up F & V strategy
  • Assure strategy of category managers at store level (Fruits, vegetables, juices, dates and nuts)
  • Assure strategy of category managers between the stores needs and procurement sourcing (coordination between stores needs and procurement/sourcing)
  • Apply category role strategy

Tender and Negotiation

  • Engage in souring the best quality products for competitive prices aligned with the organizations objectives
  • Manage the tender process and RFQs to the market in coordination with the relevant business users
  • Implement negotiation strategies to secure profitable deals
  • Stay abreast of shifts in the negotiating power of suppliers
  • Develop a cost scenario analysis, and benchmarking for the sourcing function when required

Vendor Relationships

  • Identify profitable suppliers and initiate partnerships
  • Cultivate relationships with existing and future suppliers
  • Develop and provide inputs on the risk evaluation of existing and future supply contracts
  • Identify trustworthy vendors and suppliers to develop future partnerships with
  • Utilize network to expand supplier base and attend trade shows to identify new product trends and potential suppliers

Sourcing Optimization

  • Develop reports on key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
  • Control spending and build a culture of long-term saving on procurement costs

Quality Control

  • Follow all required policies and procedures related to quality assurance of sourced items
  • Ensure regular supplier audits are implemented
  • Oversee communication with suppliers on quality related issues and propose areas for improvement to ensure best quality products
  • Report any action that might interfere with the proper functioning of the company

Coordination with Internal Stakeholders

  • Communicate with Sales Development frequently to better understand the needs of the company
  • Develop database of key trends in consumer retail
  • Communicate with relevant stakeholders to ensure clarity of the specifications and expectations of the sourcing function

Financial Responsibilities

  • Ensure alignment of procedures in accordance with the Delegation of Authority (DOA)
  • Assist in monitoring allocated budget to ensure compliance and highlight possible issues
  • Provide inputs on the preparation of budget when necessary
  • Provide inputs on cost reduction measures

Minimum Qualifications/education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics or Business Administration

Minimum experience

  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role

An opportunity for an Experienced Procurement Manager to join a well known Fresh Produce company based in Worcestershire. Our client is a well-known grower and packer with an established UK customer base . They are currently expanding their Trading team to include a new Fresh Produce Procurement Manager in charge of Salads.

Our client require a Procurement candidate to be part of an exciting period of growth for the business. They will provide opportunities for innovation, progression and career development, together with a significant package to attract the best candidate.

You would be working with the Commercial Director to manage the day to day procurement for ‘off ‘ season product and manage the stock / production after UK harvest.

The ideal candidate should have the following skills and experience ·

  • Experience of the fresh produce industry is essential, will have a proven track record of successful trading in the industry.
  • Salad procurement / trading would be essential. ·
  • Be involved in the NPD & NVD projects.
  • Source products worldwide, actively sourcing new suppliers, negotiate prices and oversee import of goods ·
  • Forecast requirements and order products to meet sales demand (with sales colleagues). ·
  • Review purchase orders for accuracy and optimum delivery / pricing. ·
  • Negotiate improved pricing, packaging, product quality, and transport costs. ·
  • Build and maintain relationships both internally and with suppliers.
  • Understand customer needs and excel in building excellent working relationships with new and existing contacts. ·
  • Must possess excellent communication on the phone and face to face, negotiation skills and whilst maintaining a professional attitude, having the ability to challenge and push back when appropriate. ·

Job Title: Senior Procurement Assistant 

A innovative, successful and well known Fresh Produce company are looking for a Senior Procurement Assistant to join their team in Kent.

As Senior Procurement Assistant you would be expected to deliver a fast, efficient and effective supply chain process to supermarkets/suppliers, oversee all day to day activities of Admin functions and manage the procurement administration team at a senior level.

Dimensions:

  • To liaise with factory, suppliers, stock & intake qc team, other UK Site teams, in the provision, analysis and exchange of data and information required to support and maintain an effective and efficient supply chain process.

Key Accountabilities:

Process Supermarket Orders

Receive and review Supermarket orders and communicate order requirements to the pack houses.

  • Receive supermarket orders via EDI.
  • Review received orders, ensure all details correct.
  • Ensure enough fruit in the pack house to fulfil orders.
  • Confirm stock despatch requirements with, and release the order to the packhouse.
  • Monitor shortage report daily, logging on system and querying with supermarket where required.
  • Customer rejection, logged on system and shortage report
  • Customer forecasting daily & weekly, updating sales forecast & factory planning team

 

Stock Management

Monitor and compare packhouse stock levels with customer orders

  • Review daily raw material stock levels via stock sheet.
  • Maintain acceptable stock level for all lines, against programmed orders, ordering top up stock on a daily basis.
  • Advise factory of what stock to use for specific lines, monitoring usage to ensure correct.
  • Complete stock reconciliation of stock level with stock on system, investigating and correcting any discrepancies.
  • Programmes with suppliers
  • Raw material rejections & replacement of stock to ensure customer orders are met.

Production Orders

Allocation of stock to confirmed orders on system ensuring correct rates are paid to factory for production.

  • Receive production data from factory, check, correct if necessary, query any anomalies.
  • Allocate stock used, by consignment to correct line produced, recording waste.
  • Ensure correct packing rates are attached to each customer.
  • Maintain costings for line production on system.

Interpret Quality Control Reports

Receive, review and verify data content of Quality Control Reports, prior to despatch to supplier.

  • Review content of report to substantiate requirement for a product claim.
  • Notify supplier of possible claim.
  • Investigate the evidence, including assigned product quality coding, photographs, and quality Control team observations to ensure the supplier receives accurate and correct information on quality of supplied fruits.

Consignment Details

Verify accuracy of data on all consignments.

  • Receive and check the details supplied on all consignments created on the system by the group.
  • Create consignments for products procured by the company
  • Query any differences from actual goods arrivals, action any amendments and re issue to QC.
  • Monitor stock team confirmation of receipt of stock arrival.
  • Query any differences with stock team of expected consignment details.
  • Send QC reports to supplier
  • Set up varietal codes, sizes, grower/supplier details for QC.

Administration

  • Update and input weekly prices and ensure highest degree of accuracy
  • Enter manual orders onto system for non supermarket customers
  • Check invoices received to ensure correct before authorising payment
  • Advising stock & intake qc team of next day raw material arrivals

  • Take responsibility for the Health and Safety of yourself and others whilst at work
  • Support Company Initiatives and demonstrate Company Values.
  • To comply with all legal and statutory obligations applicable to the role.
  • Participate in training and personal development activities as required

Qualifications/ Knowledge & Experience

Specific Knowledge & Experience

  • Fluent in spoken and written English.

 

Relevant knowledge and experience would include:

  • Knowledge of soft fruit and / or experience of working with short life products (preferred but not essential)
  • Knowledge of a supply chain process (preferred but not essential)

 

Specific Skills & Experience

  • Experience of working in a customer facing environment.
  • Demonstration of strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven Time management skills: Accustomed to working with and meeting time critical deadlines.
  • Computer Literature – at ease with IT software including all packages of Microsoft Office, Advanced excel skill essential. Navision experience desirable.
  • Sharepoint experience desirable
  • Attention to detail
