POSITION TITLE: Branch Manager Wholesale REPORTS TO: Managing Director Wholesale

ABOUT THE ROLE Ensure the day to day running of the site and supervision of the Management Team ( all hours). You would also be expected to grow profitable sales to ensure budgeted objectives are met and exceeded.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Responsible for the overall profit and loss of the site and shows an in-depth understanding of the business’s budget/performance and key financial ratios. • Develop and agree budgets and targets for the site and ensure delivery against these objectives. • People management involving the coaching and development of the site team to achieve the goals and targets set. • Coordinate inputs from procurement, sales, and distribution, where applicable, to enable Site objectives and produce supply to be controlled • Monitor progress against the annual sales plan and act where necessary to ensure delivery • Commercial trading in line with branch requirements • Maintain up to date knowledge of the market sector trends, competitor activity and product lines • Accurate management, reconciliation, and reporting of stock in accordance with Company guidelines • Ensure compliance with all Company policies and procedures.

LEADERSHIP • Responsible for the overall leadership of the site, including recruitment, line management, coaching, empowering, and regular feedback. • A strong advocate of continuous improvement and demonstrates skill in managing change programs, encouraging, and motivating others to improve. • Is decisive and can make difficult decisions within a high pressured and fast paced environment, showing conviction and confidence. • Is committed to diversity and promotes an inclusive culture.

COMPLIANCE • Site Compliance is a prerequisite for our client's UK customers, and it should be seen as an opportunity to grow and develop the business by working in an exemplary way. • Guide the site management team to ensure processes and operations are carried out in a healthy, safe, and sustainable manner, complying with all internal procedures and external standards and legislation. • Ensure the site operates in accordance with the Company’s financial and HR policies and procedures • Ensure site security arrangements are adequate to protect the business

EXPERIENCE • A minimum of 5 years general management, preferably in the FMCG sector • Strong leader, with demonstrable experience in Performance Management and team motivation • Commercial industry knowledge

ABOUT YOU • PC literate, familiar with using ERP systems and Microsoft packages. • Customer focused - an innovative thinker with a flexible approach who is open to new ways of operating and can adapt to evolving business needs. • Profit orientated and cost conscious. • Strong interpersonal skills and can adapt management style with an ability to engage and motivate a team of multi-disciplined employees. • Comfortable working collaboratively across branch and with UK management team. • High influencing and negotiating skills to achieve the best outcomes for the business. • Role models engaging leadership behaviours, is personable, adaptable, confident, and resilient. • A high degree of ownership and problem solving, taking an organised and strategic approach to managing workload. • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interpret complex requirements and report in an easily understandable format.

WORKING HOURS

Start time 4am once embedded in the role. With a requirement to see the operation at all times of the working shift with 1.30am starts to establish credibility and get to know the entire cycle initially and then at key trading times of the year.

This is a very EXCITING new role....We are looking for a Business Development Manager to work in one of Europe's busiest ports!

Role Overview:

This key commercial role focuses on developing and managing perishable cargo accounts at the Port of Dover. With a strong emphasis on customer relationship management, the post holder will identify, secure, and grow revenue opportunities across the perishables supply chain—working with growers, importers, supermarkets, shipping lines, and logistics providers.

The Business Development Manager (Perishables) will be working within the Commercial team, reporting to our Head of Business Development who reports directly to the Chief Commercial Officer.

You will build partnerships with customers up and down the supply chain realising and growing our pipeline of business. The role is responsible for a significant revenue with profit and loss accountability.

Working in partnership with our client's Operational team you will ensure quality standards are world-class in food security, safety, quality and sustainability. The role will involve working with our service teams and operations to deliver a range of exciting and challenging commercial projects in one of Europe's busiest ports.

You will need a strong customer background in sales, account management and business development along with a passion for delivering world-class supply chain solutions nationally and internationally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive commercial growth of the Port's perishables business

  • Manage key client accounts and develop new B2B opportunities

  • Lead on commercial presentations, proposals, and trade engagement

  • Analyse market and customer data to inform business strategy

  • Ensure top-tier service standards in food safety, quality, and sustainability

  • Collaborate across departments to deliver strategic projects

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • 10+ years in perishables, shipping, logistics or fresh food sectors
  • Proven track record in business development and client management
  • Excellent knowledge of international trade and cold chain logistics
  • Experience within the perishable/reefer industry within a Port environment (desirable)
  • Strong commercial, marketing, and financial acumen (P&L responsibility). The Successful candidate would have a proven track record as a Business development manager or similar.
  • Skilled communicator and public speaker, confident at senior levels
  • Resilient, innovative, and customer-focused with a passion for supply chain excellence
  •  Undertake International, European and UK travel
  • Project Management experience would be desirable

They are looking for a Sales professional to join their Non-Retail sales Team and work with the Head of Non-Retail as they look to develop and expand their existing offering in the primary and secondary wholesale, Fresh Prepared, Foodservice and a portfolio of other customers. You will have a good understanding of how non-retail works, most likely dealing with UK Home delivery Companies, Processors, Packers, Category Managers…. You will help to drive performance across the team, and existing external stakeholders, whilst also introducing new customers and suppliers. You will be involved in helping to manage all aspects of the relationships they have developed with their existing customers, ensuring they receive the best possible service and helping them to maximise their sales opportunities. What we are looking for?

  • You will be proficient in supply chain processes, with a good understanding of world geography and experience of managing logistical issues in terms of moving products globally.
  • Ability to speak a second language, particularly Spanish, would be desirable not expected.
  • You’ll thrive in a fast-paced environment, be accustomed to working to tight timescales and feel comfortable managing a number of different tasks simultaneously.
  • You’ll be IT literate, especially with MS Word and Excel and ideally have experience of using an ERP system, although training will be provided.
  • You must be a confident communicator, with a strong outgoing personality and the ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders, assisting with queries and resolving issues quickly and efficiently.
