Trader / Salesperson ( Fresh Produce &  Fruit Industry )


About the Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Trader / Salesperson to join a dynamic and growing fresh produce business based in Kent. This is a key role for a self-motivated, commercially driven individual with a proven track record in the fruit and fresh produce sector.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing existing customer and supplier relationships, while actively developing new business opportunities across the UK and Europe.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain strong trading relationships with both customers and suppliers

  • Identify and pursue new sales opportunities across wholesale, foodservice, and retail sectors

  • Negotiate prices, volumes, and specifications to meet commercial targets

  • Monitor market trends, pricing, and competitor activity to inform trading decisions

  • Collaborate with procurement, logistics, and operations teams to ensure smooth supply chain execution

  • Prepare and manage sales forecasts, budgets, and margin analysis

  • Ensure excellent customer service and satisfaction at every stage of the trading process


Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Proven experience in a trading or sales role within the fresh produce / fruit industry

  • Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills

  • A well-established network of contacts within the fresh produce sector

  • Ability to identify market opportunities and convert them into profitable sales

  • Results-driven, with a proactive and resilient approach to challenges

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship management skills

  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic trading environment


Desirable:

  • Knowledge of import/export procedures and logistics

  • Experience working with European or international customers

  • Multilingual abilities (especially Spanish, Dutch, or French)

What you’ll be doing:

✅ Managing end-to-end procurement and sales admin processes
✅ Raising and tracking purchase orders across global suppliers
✅ Monitoring shipments and vessel arrivals from the EU
✅ Coordinating logistics from port to warehouse
✅ Processing sales orders, purchase invoices, and stock reconciliations
✅ Overseeing inventory accuracy and managing returns or rejections
✅ Handling EU import customs documentation
✅ Liaising cross-functionally with sales, logistics, and finance teams
✅ Spotting issues before they arise—and solving them quickly when they do


What you bring to the table:

🔹 Solid experience in a supply chain or procurement admin role—preferably within the food industry
🔹 Confident working with Excel and ERP systems
🔹 Exceptional organisation and communication skills
🔹 Comfortable juggling multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
🔹 A natural problem-solver with strong commercial awareness
🔹 Positive, can-do attitude and a sharp eye for detail
