Our Client is a successful Fresh Produce Importer and Distributor who have developed their business from niche Fresh Produce products over the years to mainstream brands. After a period of rapid growth in these areas they have created distinct Business Units to further concentrate and grow particular categories. The majority of this business is with Non-Retail clients throughout the UK.

They are looking to develop existing and new business with the appointment of a Junior Sales / Trading Manager, Sales and Procurement of product utilising negotiation and communication skills with growers and clients alike.

You will be assisting with the growth of existing business, developing new business accounts to include new product areas and new customers within the UK Retail and Non retail markets.

You will be working closely with the business, constantly ensuring the actions that are being taken are in their best interest.
This is a opportunity for a person currently in a junior position in Sales or similar or even looking to change directions or looking for their next career step.

Guidance in the role and Training will be provided if / when needed.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • You will need to have excellent negotiation skills with a resilient and “can do” attitude.
  • You will need natural trading ability with a good commercial insight.
  • Experience in fresh produce will be a bonus (doesn’t matter if it is fruit, veg or salad) but it’s not essential.
  • You must have a passion and basic knowledge of the produce industry.
  • Language skills are advantageous
  • You would have proven Sales or Business Development experience ideally in a similar Industry

Role

  • Developing the European market and taking ownership of the products within your categories in terms of ranging, availability, quality, cost prices and margin, promotions.

  • Continuously working with suppliers/growers and supply chain organisations.

  • Achieving agreed sales targets.
  • Reporting of sales data analysis.
  • Development of new products and new innovative packaging and launching them with new and existing customers.

Profile  

A highly skilled sales person with a business development mind.

  • Ideally, Bachelor level in commerce or agriculture.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the Fresh Produce sector with a good network and customer base.
  • Proficient and proven commercial skills.
  • Language skills English is a must. Spanish or German is an advantage.

Our client is a well-respected grower, packer and exporter of Fresh Produce. A family firm with several growing locations in Spain. Over the years they have created well-recognized brands based on exceptional product quality. They have offices in the UK (London) and a well established customer base, comprising mainly UK Wholesale and Food processors.

They are now looking for an experienced Sales professional to take responsibility for sales outside of their current customer base, in particular Food Service, more Processors, and Retailers and any other areas considered as new business development.We would expect a good response from candidates inside the Fresh Produce industry currently involved in sales in these areas but our client is open-minded and will look at Sales professionals from different sectors but related to sales to the areas described. In terms of working arrangements, a home based (in the office tba) candidate is as welcome as someone based in the office, which opens up this role to people living in all areas of the UK.

Our client is an International Fresh Produce Trading company with bases in several locations in UK and Europe.Through recent expansion and growth the UK Business they are now looking for a Commercial Manager / Trader to be based in Spain, buying and selling to customers in the UK market (mainly non-retail).

You would be part of this Unit and work closely to achieve the objectives, strategy and day to day tactics.

You would be responsible for the UK companies interests in Spain with their current suppliers, with regular customer and supplier/grower visits.

Our client are a major international Fresh Produce Group, they have offices located throughout Europe and now have a strong presence in the UK. They have a strong network across Europe and overseas and due to continued success they would like to grow their customer base in the UK …. Therefore they are looking for a skilled and energetic Sales professional with at least 2 years in Fresh Produce Sales or Trading role to continue their success in the UK.

Our client is an established business who have steadily grown to become a leading name in the fresh produce industry, they have a tremendous amount of knowledge within the business and are considered experts in the fresh produce sector.You will be responsible for developing and maintaining existing client relationships within the Sales & Marketing department, whilst identifying and targeting new business opportunities particularly in the non-retail sector.

To be successful in this role you will need to be a high calibre sales professional, ideally with a portfolio of customers in Wholesale Markets, Food Service, Processors, Category Managers (This is ideal, not essential). It is unlikely that you would have less than two years experience within the Fresh Produce industry and used to growing business within healthy and stable relationships. A combination of a proactive trading mentality and a strategic thinker would be essential.

You will have an eye for opportunities and jump on any chances to help grow sales and the business. You will be able to utilise your experience and relationships to help drive the business forward and help grow the top and bottom lines for the business.

The ideal candidate will have fresh produce trading experience. You will have a proven track record of delivering sales and new business in the wholesale, catering and processor markets. You will be a team player and have a good ‘can-do’ attitude

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
Sales:
• Managing customer accounts and generating sales. Focus on understanding customer needs and building long term relationships.
• Visiting customers and supporting New Business Development activity
• Learning about customer businesses, negotiating prices, and ensuring the delivery of first class customer service.
• Manage pricing and margins according to internal targets.
• Maintain and develop existing and new customers through ethical sales methods.
• Optimize quality of service, business growth, and customer satisfaction.
• Meet company targets for retention of growth and profitability.
• Building new Customer base
• Being a Team player essential

To be considered for this role, we are looking for someone with the following experience / knowledge

  • Strong negotiation skills, excellent telephone manner, sales skills must be demonstrated throughout your past career.
  • Sales / Trading experience in the Fresh Produce Industry – At least 2 years
  • Some Procurement or Buying experience would be interesting to our client… But this experience is not essential.
  • Experience working with Non retail / wholesale customers from the Fresh Produce Trade.
  • Ability to work independently and you would be a ‘self starter’. Although guidance and training will be provided if needed….

Salary range is £25,000 + for a Junior Sales with at least 1-2 years experience

Salary is open for a more Senior Sales candidates  (£35,000 – £50,000 +). We would expect you to have at least 4 years in the Industry, ideally with some contacts in the Non retail sector within Fresh Produce / Fresh food.

We are working with a highly successful international Fresh Produce Group in the search of an ambitious and engaging Fresh Produce Trader or Sales Manager. They are continuously growing in success in the UK and if you have have a proven track record buying and selling Fresh Produce, whatever the category…. We want to speak with you!

Our client supply both UK Retail and Non retail customers, so we are keen to speak with people with experience trading with either.

This role would consist of trading across several different Fresh Produce categories, or across categories you have existing relationships with that you can develop within this business

Sourcing great quality produce at a good price to not only ensure satisfied customers but repeat business with your contacts

Trading a variety of fresh produce to UK Supermarkets or Non retail outlets such as wholesalers and foodservice companies around the country.

Understanding your customers, and ensuring their requirements are met.

Using your experience and relationships to help drive the business forward and help grow the top and bottom lines for the business

The successful candidate: –

  • You would have extraordinary Sales skills, ideally working within the Fresh Produce Industry…. We would be open to any level of experience if you have some exposure to the Fruit / Fresh Produce Sales
  • You will have a proven track record of delivering sales and new business in the retail or wholesale, catering and processor markets (In the UK).
  • Experience trading in fruit ideally, other produce would be considered but fruit is a definite advantage.
  • You would have the personality and ‘gravitas’ to be in a Sales or Business Development role….
  • It would be advantageous if you have a book of contacts, both on the supply and customer side, to continue growing and developing.
  • Strong IT skills
  • Excellent commercial acumen and communication skills!
