A successful Fresh Produce operation are looking for enthusiastic Warehouse Operative to work in a fast paced chilled environment at their Warehouse in Kent….

As the Warehouse Operative you would be expected to ensure that all Operational process in the warehouse is completed in a safe and timely manner to meet our customers requirements and always to ensure that all areas are clean and tidy and to the companies standard.

The Warehouse Operative would be expected to work as a team and ensure all warehouse and administration processes are completed correctly, and to ensure that all customer orders are accurately picked and dispatched in accordance with the company specification.

This would include some of the following:-

  • To ensure that all appropriate documentation is completed and accurate to the companies’ requirement.
  • To ensure that all customers specifications and internal procedures are followed to the highest standard.
  • To consistently work to Company Quality Standards, ensuring maximum output is achieved on your shift.
  • Complete any training course needed to complete to perform job role.
  • To be fully compliant of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.
  • To ensure pallets are stacked correctly in a safe manner with in the facility.
  • To endure that we stack Bails of Cardboard in a safe manner in the facility.
  • To handle product in accordance with instructions, ensuring quality is not impaired by poor handling.
  • To load vehicles with pallets and equipment in a safe and timely manner.
  • To ensure that loading procedures are followed correctly and all relevant documentation is completed.
  • Ensure the vehicle is clean and tidy and free from any taints, chemicals and foreign bodies that could affect Food safety.
  • Check and record Temperatures of products in and on vehicle, if reading too high or low product, advise the Quality control management.
  • Ensure that all arrivals are booked in correctly via the companies requirements.
  • Ensure that all orders are picked according to the correct procedure.
  • To apply box end labels to product with in the Warehouse.
  • Use the RDT scanners on the Prophet system.
  • Ensure that MHE batteries are filled with distilled water to correct level.
  • Ensure that MHE equipment is placed on charge if and when required or at the end of each shift.
  • Ensure that all arrears within the depot are kept clean and tidy at all times.
  • Collect rubbish and place in the compactor/Skip in a safe manner.
  • Any other duties that may fall within the capabilities of the job holder

The successful candidate would have the following experience :-

  • Must be trained to operate an electric pallet truck and fork lift
  • Must be aware of and fully compliant with Health and Safety requirements.
  • Must adhere to hygiene regulations at all times.
  • Must wear appropriate protective clothing, footwear and headgear; jewellery and wrist watches are not allowed.
  • Able to communicate with your Supervisors/ Managers.
  • Methodical thinker.
  • Ability to priorities and adapt in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Self-motivated work as a team player
  • Work on your own initiative
  • Counter balance and PPE trained
  • Have previous experience of working in a Fast moving environment

The shifts for this role will be – 6 days a week- various shifts  either  6-14 or 7-15 or 12-finish  or mixture depending on the needs of the business

Reports to:  Production Controller  

Job purpose:  Responsible for management and performance of a designated Production line, ensuring all aspects of Production are in accordance with compliance, quality standards and departmental KPIs.

Key accountabilities and decision ownership:

  • Supervise the shift team and relevant non-shift personnel working in Production
  • Closely supervise and carry out inductions for any temporary staff employed in Production
  • Participate in the daily Production huddles and ensure regular communication/briefings to provide the Production team with the relevant information to carry out their role to the maximum effect
  • Carry out training as necessary in Production procedures, working practices and Company policy
  • Implement the Production plan as efficiently as possible to maximise the throughput during your shift by organising staff in the best way to maximise effective and efficient output.
  • Leave the Production areas and equipment in a fit state for the next shift to start
  • Report on Production achieved and provide a detailed handover to other Production staff as required.
  • Suggest and help implement any cost-saving ideas or improvements
  • Maintain a high level of quality with a focus on zero defects.
  • Report any equipment faults
  • Carry out QA checks and complete relevant documentation
  • Work as part of a team on the Production line as required
  • Monitor usage of sundry items and consumables, report any shortage
  • Ensure Clean As You Go is being applied
  • Monitor hygiene in the Production areas during your shift and resolve or report any issues found
  • Ensure product is being handled and stored in a food safe manner and according to Company procedures/policy
  • Ensure staff follow the Company Hygiene code and maintain a high standard of personal hygiene while at work
  • Ensure equipment is cleaned properly and according to procedure
  • Ensure sign off procedures are followed and all paperwork and labeling is completed accurately and signed by the relevant staff
  • Ensure that no incorrect product or product of insufficient quality are used
  • Ensure all unused stock is returned and accurately recorded
  • Ensure all spillages are cleaned up immediately and bins emptied/rubbish cleared
  • Comply with all relevant Company policies and procedures, including but not limited to Health, Safety & Wellbeing Policy, Equal Opportunities, Diversity & Dignity at Work Policy and Hygiene Policy.

Role Details – Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Supply Chain/ Export Operation

  • Control the product set-up in the Supply Chain systems and oversee that 3rd party providers have the necessary information

  • Communicate with suppliers regarding any changes in their product packaging as well as product ingredients and barcodes and update all countries
  • Provide KPIs to all departments relevant to Supply Chain and prepare the monthly international newsletter
  • Keep the category portal updated for all countries to ensure they have access to the latest ranges and product details
  • Communicate with suppliers and 3PLs on the requirements in term of documentation for the import/ export process
  • Ensure 3PLs have all shipment documents, ensuring they are complete according to the customs as well as local municipality requirements
  • Process all shortages and claims between Customers and Suppliers while working closely with finance to ensure all invoices are accurately processed
  • Schedule ordering for regular and seasonal orders, with Merchandising, 3PLs and Suppliers
  • Manage Order submission and shipment consolidation
  • Ensure MOQ, shelf life and timescales are met for all orders, while optimising shipments
  • Control and compare orders volume and value, with the forecast on hand, and share it with commercial team to take action
  • Control SL per order per country, and secure the reason for what is not delivered and take action accordingly

Our client is an International Fresh Produce Trading company with bases in several locations in UK and Europe.Through recent expansion and growth the UK Business they are now looking for a Commercial Manager / Trader to be based in Spain, buying and selling to customers in the UK market (mainly non-retail).

You would be part of this Unit and work closely to achieve the objectives, strategy and day to day tactics.

You would be responsible for the UK companies interests in Spain with their current suppliers, with regular customer and supplier/grower visits.

Our client supply both UK Retail and Non retail customers, so we are keen to speak with people with experience trading with either.

This role would consist of trading across several different Fresh Produce categories, or across categories you have existing relationships with that you can develop within this business

Sourcing great quality produce at a good price to not only ensure satisfied customers but repeat business with your contacts

Trading a variety of fresh produce to UK Supermarkets or Non retail outlets such as wholesalers and foodservice companies around the country.

Understanding your customers, and ensuring their requirements are met.

Using your experience and relationships to help drive the business forward and help grow the top and bottom lines for the business

The successful candidate: –

  • You would have extraordinary Sales skills, ideally working within the Fresh Produce Industry…. We would be open to any level of experience if you have some exposure to the Fruit / Fresh Produce Sales
  • You will have a proven track record of delivering sales and new business in the retail or wholesale, catering and processor markets (In the UK).
  • Experience trading in fruit ideally, other produce would be considered but fruit is a definite advantage.
  • You would have the personality and ‘gravitas’ to be in a Sales or Business Development role….
  • It would be advantageous if you have a book of contacts, both on the supply and customer side, to continue growing and developing.
  • Strong IT skills
  • Excellent commercial acumen and communication skills!
